The two routes of entry are:

​

              Trained Operator (Red) Card to Competent Operator (Blue) Card (a two-stage process)

             Competent Operator (Blue) Card

CPCS Card Types

Red – Trained Operator

​

This is usually the first CPCS card you will attain. To get a red card, you need to successfully complete a CPCS Technical Test.

This consists of a Theory Test and a Practical Test for each category you wish to have on your card.

The Theory Test is conducted on a one-to-one basis with your CPCS Tester. It is a verbal test consisting of between 55 and 87 questions depending on the category.

Once you have successfully completed your Theory Test, you can take you Practical Test.

This takes between 1 and 3 hours depending on the category and consists of a number of machine specific tasks.

Your CPCS Trained Operator Card will last for 2 years.

We cannot send the answers to the CPCS Theory Test but once you book your test, we can provide you with a study book which has the answers embedded within it. Please call for details.

Blue – Competent Operator

To upgrade your Red Card to a Blue card, you need to complete a Level 2 NVQ in Plant Operations.

Your CPCS Trained Operator Card will last for 2 years.

            In House training and assessments for clients that do not require any of the above, can be carried out on your site

            All our Trainers, Testers, Assessors and Internal verifiers are fully qualified.

​

            Our Training Centre is based in Ardgay Sutherland, 45 minutes drive North of Inverness and cover the whole of the Scotland.
